Kernel Hearts ships four playable M.A.H.O.U units in 1.0: Fernet, Spika, Laika, and Dolce. Fernet is the starter. The other three unlock through Steam achievements that name the unit in the description. Director Akira’s Xbox Wire feature is the source for combat silhouettes — swords and spirits, katana, massive sword, dance fighting — and official posts list the English plus second-language voice tracks. This page compares those four records. It does not list unpublished stats, nationality tables, or a fifth girl. Official stills on this page are squad and unit art, not per-move command lists. Dolce has no exclusive Steam screenshot in the sealed media set, so her card uses fields without a unique portrait rather than a fabricated pose.

Use the picture grid to pick a silhouette, then tick Compare to pin unit code, role, combat line, unlock evidence, and voice languages in the tray. Fernet is UNIT-001, available at start; a Fernet Mate achievement exists, but there is no unlock-unit achievement for her. Spika is UNIT-003, The Sword of the East. Laika is UNIT-002, The Crimson Demon. Dolce is UNIT-004, The Deadly Performer. Kernel Night is the achievement for unlocking every playable character, which is how we know the roster stops at four.
Voice tracks are English plus one second language per unit: Argentinian Spanish for Fernet, Japanese for Spika, Russian for Laika, Italian for Dolce. Steam’s language list separately confirms English, Japanese with full audio, Latin American Spanish, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese as supported store languages. Japanese story scenes from the final demo update need a New Game to hear the new VO. For chip boards that sit under every unit, continue to MAHOU.OS.
The Sword of the East, The Crimson Demon, and The Deadly Performer are the three unlock achievements. Their global percents on the Steam board sit well below Fernet’s hidden starter row, which matches a roster you grow during the tower rather than a day-one select screen with four names lit. Kernel Night at under 10% global is the “every playable character” closer. Use those percents as a hint for how late Spika, Laika, and Dolce show up in a typical save, not as a drop-rate table.
Argentinian Spanish on Fernet matches an Argentine studio. Japanese on Spika matches the full-audio Japanese SKU. Russian on Laika and Italian on Dolce are the remaining listed pairs. English is on every unit. If you care about hearing story scenes in Japanese after the demo VO patch, start a New Game; swapping a unit in an old save is not the instruction Akira attached to that update. Compare the four rows in the tray, then leave for the chip board if you are trying to spend 256KB rather than pick a girl.
