Official still reserved for platform and co-op questions.
These answers come from the Steam listing, Steam news, Xbox store copy, and the Epic/Fortnite press note. There is no official FAQ page. Questions below are the ones those sources actually close: player count, crossplay, demo length, Japanese voices, Game Pass, price, and the Fernet Fortnite outfit. If a store page contradicts an older news post, the later 1.0 listing wins.
What this FAQ will not do
It will not estimate matchmaking times, invent a difficulty recommendation, or reprint community coin names. It will point you at Release for the dated platform table, Tower of Babel for the 2-versus-7 floor split, and Achievements for hunt percents. Read the answers as store facts dressed for a player, not as patch-note commentary.
Should you keep the demo after 1.0?
The demo is a separate app with two floors and an older VO path unless you took the final demo update and started a New Game. It is useful if you want to show a friend the lab-and-climb loop without buying 1.0. It is the wrong download if you want around seven floors, the full unit unlocks, or the 17 September storefront bundle that includes Game Pass and the Epic outfit. Delete or keep it as a tutorial SKU; do not expect it to patch into the full tower.
Frequently asked questions
Can I play Kernel Hearts solo?
Yes. Steam lists solo play and online co-op for up to four players in the same product. You do not need a full party to enter the Tower of Babel. Co-op is optional; the HUD still exposes Ping for when you do bring other units.
Does PC crossplay work at launch?
Launch news states crossplay between all PC versions. Steam also lists Steam cross-platform multiplayer. Console-to-PC crossplay is not spelled out in the same sentence, so this FAQ does not promise it. Check the storefront you actually own if you need a later patch note.
How long is the demo versus 1.0?
Director Akira wrote that the demo has 2 floors while the full game has around 7. The public Steam demo (app 4533500) shipped 31 March 2026 and received a Next Fest update on 15 June 2026. The 1.0 launch date is 17 September 2026. Use the demo to learn the lab-and-climb loop, not to finish the tower.
Is there Japanese voice acting?
Steam supports Japanese with full audio. The final demo update added Japanese voice acting, and a New Game is required to hear story scenes with it. Spika’s listed VA pair is English | Japanese. Other units keep English plus a second language that is not Japanese.
Is Kernel Hearts on Xbox Game Pass?
The Xbox listing includes Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass, Xbox Play Anywhere, cloud play, and online co-op for 2–4 players. ESRB rates the Xbox build TEEN for Violence, Blood, Suggestive Themes, Use of Alcohol And Tobacco, and Language. Steam’s US list price is $19.99 for the paid storefront.
What is the Fernet Fortnite outfit?
Buying Kernel Hearts on the Epic Games Store grants the Fernet Fortnite outfit on the same account. The Item Shop date attached to that press note is 26 September 2026. The Fortnite record is dated 17 August 2026 in the platform table. This is a purchase bonus, not a Tower unlock.
What are the PC specs and install size?
Steam lists a 15 GB install. Minimum: Windows 10, Core i7-9750H, 8 GB RAM, GTX 1060. Recommended: Core i7-10700 or Ryzen 5 3600, 16 GB RAM, RTX 2060 or GTX 1660 Ti. Those numbers are the store’s PC card, not a console spec sheet. PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 ship as separate SKUs with no extra hardware table in the research set.
Who made Kernel Hearts and where do I send a bug?
Ephemera Games developed it. Whitethorn Games published it. Akira is Game Director; the support address printed in news is akira@ephemeragames.com. This wiki cannot reset a save, refund a SKU, or file a console ticket. Use the platform you purchased on, or that studio address, for actual support.
