Glossary

These eight terms are the system names Kernel Hearts actually prints: M.A.H.O.U Unit, Heavenly Curse, MAHOU.OS / chips, Memento, Relic, Sin Meter, Purification, and Koka. Definitions below expand the sealed glossary records into player sentences. Community coin names such as Old World Coins stay off this list because they are not first-party. Use the links when a short gloss is not enough and you need the full board, burst, or achievement row.
Where each term lives on the site
M.A.H.O.U Unit is the four-girl roster on M.A.H.O.U Units. Heavenly Curse is the burst-and-form page. MAHOU.OS is the 256KB chip board. Mementos and relics split across the memento table: leveled run powers versus map-drop passives. Sin Meter fills until random Sin Events fire; survive 30 seconds at 100% for the related achievement. Purifications replaced coffins in a playtest and add more angels as a build check. Koka is a summonable ally; one achievement asks you to summon five at once.
If you met a name on an achievement icon and landed here, stay for the one-line gloss, then jump to the page that holds the table. This glossary will not grow into a second achievement list. It exists so a system word found in UI can be looked up without rereading the hub pitch.
Names this glossary refuses
Old World Coins and other community currency labels are not first-party in the sealed set, so they are not defined here. Floor names that only exist on fan maps are not defined here. Boss HP is not defined here. If a later Steam news post prints a coin name, it can earn a row. Until then, look up M.A.H.O.U, the curse, the OS, mementos, relics, Sin Meter, Purifications, and Koka, then follow the links into the long pages.
Achievement titles that are song names or jokes still point at real verbs: rescue, visit, unlock, slay. The glossary does not rewrite those titles. It only defines the system words that show up on UI chrome. For the 44-row hunt, use the achievements ledger.
- M.A.H.O.U Unit
- M.A.H.O.U Unit is the elite fighting force of super-powered android magical girls who climb the Tower of Babel. Four playable units ship: Fernet, Spika, Laika, and Dolce. The name is the in-game force title, not a separate menu. See the unit compare page for kits and unlock achievements.
- Heavenly Curse
- Heavenly Curse is the named transformation. Dispelling it unleashes a devastating nearby attack and a short true magical-girl form. The Heavenly Curse Chip is a collectable with its own achievement and lives on the OS board rather than in this gloss.
- MAHOU.OS / chips
- MAHOU.OS is the chip operating system. Between runs you spend rewards to unlock and equip up to 256KB of chips. Official UI calls it required to operate a magical girl unit and the binary version of a soul. Living in the Database and Stocked close the board.
- Memento
- A Memento is a leveled run power. The UI header calls it the remains of a fallen star’s resolve. News rebalanced mementos to scale with player level. Named examples include Nakshatra’s Lust, Teressa’s Envy, Head Starter, Aegis Last Wish, Airys Revenge, and Laika’s Rancor.
- Relic
- A Relic is a passive bonus that drops over time on the map. It is not a memento and does not use the fallen-star header. The Hoarder achievement tracks obtaining every Relic at least once. First-party sources do not publish the full relic list.
- Sin Meter
- The Sin Meter fills during a run and triggers random Sin Events as it rises. One achievement asks you to survive 30 seconds at 100%. That is the entire official mechanic description. No first-party graph of event types ships with this gloss.
- Purification
- Purification is the playtest rewrite of coffins: more angels, framed as a test of the build. Use the news wording rather than older coffin screenshots. It is a tower encounter type, not a Babel gift.
- Koka
- Koka is a summonable ally. The related achievement asks you to summon five Kokas at the same time. No first-party stat block is attached to the name. Treat Koka as a run summon, not a fifth playable unit.
