What you do after the title screen
A session starts in the memory-backup laboratory on the outskirts of humanity’s last holdout, then sends the chosen unit into the sentient Tower of Babel. After the climb you return to that lab, spend expedition rewards on chips, and go again. Store copy frames the loop as mix-your-powers-each-floor rather than a single campaign save: death is a reset of the run, not a deletion of the OS board you have already unlocked.
Between floors you talk to tower inhabitants and hand over gifts to deepen bonds. Steam achievements track those bonds as rescues and pet interactions, which is why Babel sits next to the combat guide instead of being flavor text. The co-op HUD printed in a store still labels Light Attack, Heavy Attack, Cast Spell, Lock On, Use Item, Interact, Dodge, Jump/Ledge Grab, Ping, and Reset Camera — enough to know ping is a real command, not a wiki decoration.
Units, chips, and the 44-achievement hunt
Four playable MAHOU units ship in 1.0. Fernet is the starter with swords and spirits. Spika unlocks through The Sword of the East and fights with a katana. Laika unlocks through The Crimson Demon and swings a massive sword. Dolce unlocks through The Deadly Performer and fight-dances. Director Akira spelled those silhouettes in the Xbox Wire feature; the Steam achievement list is what proves the unlock order.
Between runs you equip up to 256KB of chips on MAHOU.OS, the board the store calls the binary version of a soul. An official news still shows UNIT--FERNET at DATA 125/256 buying a Self-Healing Protocol chip. The Heavenly Curse Chip is a named hunt (The power of the Moon), and Stocked / Living in the Database close the chip collection. Pair that board with mementos such as Nakshatra’s Lust and Teressa’s Envy, then use Achievements when you want the 44-row Steam ledger instead of another recap of the same loop.
Where the 1.0 build actually shipped
17 September 2026 is the shared launch day on Steam, Epic, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2. Xbox adds Game Pass and Play Anywhere. Epic adds the Fernet Fortnite outfit. Steam adds the 44-achievement board and the $19.99 US card. The public demo from 31 March is a two-floor sample, not a substitute for that SKU list.
